I sometimes think starting a blog is just silly, but I have had it in the back of my mind for years now, and "why not".
I am a 50 year old married woman who works as a retail pharmacist by day or should I say by shift then goes home to a husband, 25 dogs, 2 cats, 2 alpacas, 1 llama, 1 bird and horse and a large house to keep up. Why do we have so many animal??? Ummm, because we are nuts...because we can't say "no" to an animal in need, because....all of the above. Anyway, my life as a pharmacist is amazingly stressful. You haven't lived until you enter a high volume pharmacy during the dinner hour on a Monday. I am sure I can tell you so much more in the future, but for now, just say it is the definition of stress. Now, when I go home to the animals, it is my downtime and I love it. Every single dog etc is an amazing individual with a story.
Goliath is our oldest. He is a 16 year old min pin (miniature pinscher) who we got on a whim when he was 11 weeks old. From that day on, this little guy change our lives. To that point, I had 2 weimaraners and was a "big dog" person, but Goliath lived up to his name and made big changes in my thinking and my life. But he only weighs 10 lbs. Over the years, he has been the ambassador for Progressive Insurance Motorcycle division, Major factor in raising alot of money for various charities, and mascot to motorcycle clubs and businesses, and he had a fan club all his own (Friends of Goliath), and he was the major reason why we started helping other dogs.
Of course, now at 16, he is retired from his "working" life and living the life of a king. He sleeps on the couch all day and in the bed at night. He now has cataracts and arthritis but despite it all he is our alpha dog and king of the family. We adore him even when he is a grumpy old man.
In his youth, Goliath loved to ride in my jacket while I was the passenger on our GoldWing motorcycle. This was his passion. He loved it and would sit for hours in my coat while we traveled miles and miles all over the country. And when we stopped, he broke all barriers and made friends with anyone around. He is and was an amazing little guy with a big heart. He could tell the difference between house keys and motorcycle keys, and would not let us out of the house without him IF we had the motorcycle keys. I cannot tell you how many times I had to sneak out of the house with my gear stowed away from him so that we could go somewhere on the bike he couldn't go. Amazingly, he went alot of places...restaurants, hospitals, hotels....and he was always the gentleman!!
